Our Approach

What ABA Therapy Looks Like at Our Ontario Center

What ABA Therapy Looks Like at Our Ontario Center

Families across Ontario and the Inland Empire come to Intercare for one reason: they want a team that treats their child as an individual. Every program at our Ontario center begins with a detailed assessment by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst — not a one-size-fits-all curriculum, but a personalized plan built around your child's strengths, goals, and daily routines.

Whether your child is two years old and just received a diagnosis, or a teenager working toward greater independence, our Ontario BCBA team designs and supervises every session. Registered Behavior Technicians deliver therapy under direct BCBA oversight, so you can trust that qualified eyes are on your child's progress every step of the way.

Built on 45 Years of ABA Experience

Family-Founded in 1979 — Intercare has been serving families with children on the autism spectrum for more than 45 years. We started as a family and we've grown as one — which means every clinic, including Ontario, operates with the same values that have guided us from the beginning.

Intercare is in-network with most major commercial and behavioral health plans serving Ontario and the Inland Empire. Our intake team verifies benefits before your first appointment so there are no surprises.

If your plan isn't listed, call us — we can usually verify coverage within 1–2 business days. California's behavioral health treatment mandate (SB 946) requires most state-regulated health plans to cover ABA therapy for children with autism, but specifics — copays, prior authorization rules, session limits — vary widely. Our intake team handles the verification and authorization paperwork directly.

Working With Inland Empire Schools

Intercare's Ontario BCBAs collaborate with local schools on a case-by-case basis. That means attending your child's IEP meetings, observing classroom settings when families invite us in, and making sure the goals we're working on at the clinic are reinforced at school.

If your child has an upcoming IEP, our IEP guide for parents walks through what to ask for and what to expect.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

How old does my child need to be to start ABA therapy in Ontario?

We accept referrals from 18 months through age 18. Early intervention — typically before age six — has the strongest evidence base, but ABA is effective across childhood and adolescence.

How many hours of ABA per week does my child need?

That depends on the BCBA's assessment. Comprehensive programs for young children often run 25–40 hours per week. Focused programs for older kids working on specific goals can run as few as 10–15 hours per week. The treatment plan you review in week four will spell this out.

Is ABA therapy covered by insurance in California?

For most children with an autism diagnosis, yes. California's SB 946 requires state-regulated commercial plans to cover behavioral health treatment for autism. Self-funded employer plans, Medicare, and Tricare have separate rules. Our intake team verifies coverage at no cost before therapy begins.

Can my child get ABA at home and at school?

Yes. Many of our Ontario families combine in-home ABA with classroom support. Our BCBAs collaborate with local schools on a case-by-case basis — attending IEP meetings, observing classrooms, and aligning home and school goals.

How do I get started with ABA in Ontario?

Call us at (888) 428-3223 or book online at intercaretherapy.com/book-ontario. Our intake team will verify your insurance, gather your child's diagnosis documentation, and schedule an initial assessment — typically within two weeks.
